Ebro Meander in Flix

The meander in Flix is the most espectacular in the whole Ebro. The river describes so big curve that people from Flix talks about up river and down river. So that's the village where the river passes twice.

The construction of the dam is the reason for the low  flow at the this route. The water diverts to an hidroelectric plant, so that we have a 5 km stretch  of calm waters to enjoy paddling.

In fact, is likely to find rowers from the local club training in this area in the llaguts (old traditional boats).

This meander is part of the Natural Reserve of Sebes. Visiting this Reserve you also could visit the Museum of "Cami de Sirga". It's about  the time were the only way of comunication were the old boats (llaguts), birdwatching points, an iberic settlement excavation, storks and camargue horses.

The route in the meander also provides several places for a bath, jumping from rocks or having a meal at the Resort. In fact, is an excellent place for lodging.

What can we see from our canoe?

• Old ferry boat: In the catalan Ebro, there are only two old ferry boats remaining: the one in Miravet and this one.
  
• Last days of the Battle of the Ebro during the spanish Civil war: During this battle, an iron bridge was built and destroyed several times. The thing is that the last bombing of that bridge is considered the end of this bloody war.
• "New Castle": Interesting during the "carlinas" wars. It worths a visit.
  
• Rocks. Several places to have a bath and jump from the rocks.
• Vilar Riu de Baix.
• Iberic settlement: dated IX B.C.
• Little chanel plenty of vegetation.
  
• Recreative area "Los Xops".
  
• Meander Path. There is the possibility to walk around the meander by foot or by bike.
• Dock. Club Nautic Flix. You can visit the village. You can buy the olive oil, fruit or enjoy walking through the bars in Catalunya Avenue.
